Resident Evil 4 Quick Review

By Andy J.

When Resident Evil 4, hit the market in January 2005, as soon as the game came out it was labeled is one of the best games ever to come out. It revolutionized the whole Resident Evil series and the action genre as a whole.

It was announced that the game was going to be exclusive for the GameCube, but a couple of months to a year later it found its way to the PlayStation 2. then it was released for the personal computer, then it came out for the Nintendo Wii. If you have never played the Resident Evil series then this game is the perfect place to start.

The story continues with a former Raccoon City Police department officer called Leon S. Kennedy, he now has a job working for the president. The daughter of the president has been kidnapped, and you have to rescue her.

When he arrived at the location he then discovers that there is something seriously wrong with the local people. The people have been infected by a plague that makes them go insane. Most hardcore gamers are aware of Resident Evil 4's awesomeness, but it its not to bad if you pick it up again.

Resident Evil 4 has superior game play in the whole series. The camera has now been greatly improved, if follows your character around so you can see everything from over his shoulder. The environments are awesome looking, and have details even in the smallest things. I am so impressed with its graphics i could compare it to early Xbox 360 games.

The loading times are fast, there are no frame rate issues, so the game wont be slowing down when facing multiple enemies. Resident Evil 4 on the Nintendo Wii is a completely different experience. I was a bit nervous about the controls. Just like most games paired up with the Wii have had controller issues, to my surprise the controls were perfect.

For running you use the nun chuck, and you gun is controlled by the Wii Remote. In Resident Evil the cut-scenes are completely interactive, for example you are in a boat that's going under water, and then the game prompts you to press a certain button repeatedly to swim.

There are many weapons to choose from ranging from handguns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, grenades, rocket launchers, grenade launchers and sub-machine guns, but that's not all. The weapons are all upgradable to be more powerful, faster and accurate. One of my favorite weapons in the game is the hand cannon (smith & Wesson M500) which can kill an enemy with one round.

Pros:

-Awesome game play

-story is great

-the graphics are cool

-long game

cons:

-the game might be too easy

-no zombies?

Resident Evil 4 - Afterlife - Be Prepared For Zombie Slaying Action

By Melissa Ray

Through Resident Evil 4 Afterlife, the whole setting turns back to an urban milieu where Milla Jovovich who is going to recapitulate her role as Alice would be taking on Zombies and creatures labeled as the " Undead". I really don't know who would welcome such a change in theme from various spots of those sandy deserts to an ultra-modern and sophisticated city like Los Angeles, but I am quite sure that the ones who had an aversion watching the action get underway in the deserted lands of barren region. For such sort of people, Resident Evil 4 Afterlife would hopefully be a sigh of relief.

Finding survivors and taking them to safety would be an ongoing mission of Alice in Resident Evil 4 Afterlife as well, as she dares her life by performing some death defying stunts and unbelievably ridiculous action sequences to save those survivors from getting in to the door that is to the "undead world" that is ajar. Pushing her standards to fight off the threat inflicted by the baddie-filled umbrella corporation she takes the path not taken, in the company of an old pal who runs into her at one instance.

Conceiving of an actual presence of a prospect that would lead them to a place of security in the " City of Angels", Alice leads a pack of survivors from the front to Los Angeles as expected however things doesn't fall in place as she thinks. She sees her companions are in their most perilous state worse than before when she touches down at LA with her companions. Would she be able to come out successful again, leaves us with an intriguing question; whose answers could be recognized once we come out of the theaters that are going to screen Resident Evil 4 Afterlife in near future.

It was confirmed back in July that a fourth RE movie was in the works, and that Milla Jovovich had signed up to reprise her role as Alice, the series' protagonist. Resident Evil 4: Afterlife will take the action back into an urban setting; specifically a zombie-infested Los Angeles. The relatively short plot synopsis reads:

On a personal note, in Resident Evil 4 Afterlife I second this welcome change from the lands of forsaken desert to a hi-fi city like LA where mind-blowing graphics-enabled stunts would go well with its striking backdrop as opposed to what we saw and complained in the part that forewent. Though we have been assured of one change with respect to the location in Resident Evil 4 Afterlife, whether the movie would meet its expectation is certainly a million dollar question to answer.

Resident Evil 4

By Chris Patrick

Resident Evil 4 was perhaps the most awaited portion of the Resident Evil franchise. It expanded upon the concepts that were introduced in its predecessors, while weaving in plot and content from other spin-off games. However, for such a monumental work, Resident Evil 4 is known for being the longest (so far) in terms of development. It was started in 1999, and went through a total of 4 iterations, before its release in 2005.

The Series picks up with Leon Kennedy (one of the survivors of the Racoon City Incident, and one of the primary protagonists in Resident Evil 2), who is now a member of the US Secret Service. Leon is assigned, upon taking the job, the not-so-enviable task of recovering the Daughter of the President, who has gone missing.

Leon ends up in Spain, where he uncovers "Los Plagas", a viral disease that is turning the inhabitants of a small remote agricultural town into slaves to some unknown will. They seek to kill him, and prevent him from recovering the President's Daughter. Their ultimate goal, as they are controlled by an organization known as 'Los Illuminados', is to infect her with 'Plagas' and return her to the United States to see to the infection of government officials, and thereby gain an unstoppable power base in the States.

However, Leon ends up rescuing her, and manages to remove the disease from her blood stream. The series ends on a good note as they return to the US intact.

The game was hailed as a great cross-genre piece that brought many new fans to the genre. It was a commercial success, and was well worth the time to develop.
